The Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais – PUC Minas - was founded in 1958. Considered as one of the best private universities of the country, and recognized by the Vatican’s Congregation for Catholic Education as the largest catholic university in the world, PUC Minas has more than 90.650 students enrolled in Undergraduate and Graduate programs. The permanent faculty has around 1,4 thousand professors and 2,7 thousand administrative staff.
There are 10 campuses located around the state: Belo Horizonte (Coração Eucarístico, Barreiro, Praça da Liberdade and São Gabriel), Betim, Contagem, Arcos, Poços de Caldas, Serro and Uberlândia. For the Undergraduate education, PUC Minas offers 132 undergraduate programs (bachelor’s degrees) and 30 graduate programs (17 for master degrees and 13 for doctorade degrees).
The excellence of PUC Minas’ undergraduate and graduate programs is a result of the faculties’ competence, as well as the experimentation possibilities provided by the top laboratories in which research and practice gain form. All of the university’s courses have laboratories that make practicing on equipment used on the labor market possible. Some of the laboratories are pioneers on universities, which puts the institution ahead of its time in several areas.
When it comes to internationalization, PUC Minas follows a strategic policy which involves development, orientation and international promotion on the areas of education, research and extension. It holds more than 170 agreements with higher education institutions all around the world and it is part of several international cooperation networks for education.
The comprehension of the need to surpass time and space barriers made the University strongly invest on advanced technologies, making the access to higher education broader to thousands of students.

Infrastructure and research
The infra-structure of PUC Minas includes buildings for classrooms, laboratories, libraries, a museum, multimedia rooms, theatres, auditoriums, veterinary hospitals, physiotherapy/dentistry/psychology clinics, a TV channel and other equipment integrating theory and practice, contributing to the ethical profile of competent professionals.
