Office of International Affairs


The Office of International Affairs belongs to the Department of Planning and Institutional Development. It is responsible for developing, guiding and promoting the university’s policy on internationalization. Its main activities are making international agreements with other Higher Education Institutions, promoting academic mobility and assisting foreigners visiting PUC Minas.


International Affairs Office's main activities:

a) Making agreements with foreign Higher Education Institutions;
b) Supporting PUC Minas students, faculty and staff in research activities and studies abroad;
c) Searching opportunities of scholarships and research funding for the university academic community;
d) Welcoming and assisting foreign students, faculty and staff visiting PUC Minas; and
e) Promoting international events in the university.


Support to exchange participants and foreign visitors

The Office of International Affairs is always available to help foreigners visiting PUC Minas, offering academic support, providing assistance during the adaptation process, offering information on different issues, and helping in any other matter during their stay in the country.

The Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais – PUC Minas, founded in 1958, is one of the largest universities in Brazil. Its activities are mostly concentrated in the Belo Horizonte Campus, divided into four units – Coração Eucarístico, Barreiro, São Gabriel and Praça da Liberdade – and two university centres – Betim and Contagem. PUC Minas also comprises campi in five other cities: Arcos, Guanhães, Poços de Caldas, Serro and Uberlândia. Altogether, PUC Minas has about 60.000 students, 2.500 faculty members and 2.500 staff members.

Infra-structure and research 

The infra-structure of PUC Minas includes buildings for classrooms, laboratories, libraries, a museum, multimedia rooms, theatres, auditoriums, veterinary hospitals, physiotherapy/dentistry/psychology clinics, a TV channel and other equipment integrating theory and practice, contributing to the ethical profile of competent professionals.

PUC Minas in numbers

The PUC Minas is a catholic university with a high level of education in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Being a private and non-profit institution, PUC Minas has won many awards, honors and titles due to its performance throughout its 60 years.

Among its historical landmarks, in 2015, the University was the fourth private university, among the first twenty publics and privates universities in the best reputation between employers of the Latin America and the octave among the Brazilian private universities, considering all the criteria (scientific and market academic, scientific citations, number of doctor teachers and the impact on the internet).

The PUC Minas is one of the most reputed of the state of Minas Gerais with 119 graduations courses and 568 courses divided into post-graduate, capacitation, improvement and others. Are over forty thousand students enrolled in one of the institution's seven fields and six thousand students enrolled in the distance education.  Are 300 research projects like the FIP (Research Incentive Fund) and 400 scientific initiation scholarships. There are also 40.327 students benefited from a scholarship for graduation or post-graduate.

The post-graduate has 16 programs with scholarships for undergraduate divided between masters and doctorates, like the CNPq (National Council For Scientific and Technological Development) and 295 courses offered by the university (in-class course or on-line).

The college is composed for 1,747 faculty members being specialists, masters or doctorates and it’s an institution recognized as "the largest catholic university in the world", in numbers of students and teachers.
